family law mediation colorado

My Approach

I’ve taken a hard look at the status of family law cases in Colorado. Access to reasonably-priced assistance in navigating the court system in a divorce, paternity or post-decree case has become more and more restricted, yet these cases determine the parental and financial futures of countless people (including children).

I decided that I want to be a resource for people who jointly want education, mediation, and an amicable resolution, but who don’t have unlimited financial means (or who choose to focus their resources on settlement instead of litigation). My goal is to provide the best service for the best cost, and to be accessible to most people. When children are involved, staying child-focused is a priority.

I believe strongly in what I do – helping people avoid the conflict and cost (financial and emotional) that often comes with litigation, while providing much-needed education, structure and guidance.

So, What Can I Do for You?

  • Couples come to mediation with me in all stages of their case. Many couples meet with me before any paperwork has been filed with the courts. In this case, if desired, I can provide and explain the court forms. I can educate you on the court process and the paperwork that will be needed. If the case has already been filed, I can provide you with any additional information that you need regarding the court process.
  • I will go through a detailed checklist with you of all of the important points and issues that need to be part of a thorough, complete agreement. I will identify and address details that you may not have considered, in order to avoid confusion and complications later.
  • Because I am a Colorado attorney, I can provide information about Colorado law as it relates to your case. Because of my knowledge of Colorado law, I can give you realistic feedback about your case. I will offer suggestions, options, ideas and feedback about the issues in your case. Once you reach an agreement, I can draft that agreement in a form that you can submit to the court for approval.
  • Because I am working as a neutral in your case, I cannot offer either of you legal advice. However, it is important to remember that an agreement is not binding until it has been reduced to writing and signed by both of you. Each of you has the right to have an attorney review your agreement on your behalf and give you advice on it before you sign it.
